Introducing Just Play Cards

Just Play has a second site: Just Play Cards, at JustPlayCards.net. Same idea as this one — open the page and play — but with a deck of cards instead of sliding tiles.

The games

Seven classics are live today, every one of them free:

  • Solitaire — the classic Klondike: build the four foundations up from Ace to King
  • Spider Solitaire — two decks, and complete runs from King down to Ace clear off the table
  • FreeCell — every card dealt face up, so nearly every deal can be won by planning ahead
  • Pyramid — pair up cards that add to 13 to take the pyramid apart
  • TriPeaks — clear three peaks by playing cards one higher or one lower than the last
  • Golf Solitaire — the same one-up, one-down rule, played against a single layout
  • Old Maid — the party game: pair off your hand and don't be left holding the odd queen

Blackjack and Hearts are coming next.

Why cards

2048 and patience games scratch the same itch. Both are short, single-player and quietly strategic: the rules fit in a sentence, and the difference between winning and losing is usually a move you made ten turns earlier. FreeCell especially will feel familiar to anyone who has learned to keep a 2048 corner clear — the game is about protecting the free space you have.

Languages

Just Play Cards is built to be played in your own language, the same way Just Play 2048 is. It already plays in English, Spanish, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and more languages and regions will follow, as they have here — the list for 2048 so far is on the languages page.

2048 stays here

Nothing changes on this site. 2048, its variations and its translations stay where they are, and keep growing. When you want a change of pace, the cards are one click away.
